Got these a couple weeks ago and got them installed on my shield 9mm to replace the stock sights. finally got a chance to use them this past weekend and they are awesome. Dawson doesn't do a great job with the descriptions of some of the physical characteristics of their sights so I was taking a bit of a blind risk just judging from the limited photos on the website but I am glad I did.

first off, to supplement the info available for these, the front sight focus ring (aka, white dot) is almost twice as large as the rear dots but still not a huge wide sight. This is about how they looked in the pics but pics can be deceiving. this is what I was hoping for as well. All of the tritium vials are the same size. The one thing that did deceive me a little is the fact that the focus rings surrounding the tritium vials on the rear sight are an aluminum color, NOT white as it kind of looks like in the pics. I was a little disappointed in that at first but it didn't seem to make a big difference to me in actual usage but still worth mentioning. I was still able to get a correct sight picture accurately and very quickly due to the contrast between the front and rear and I didn't loose my rear sight dot reference when focusing in on the rear sight. I know some people prefer a blacked out rear sight but it just doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me... if you happen to be shooting at something that is black or really dark then you can't see the "light" well on either side of the front post so it makes it harder for me to align my windage without some kind of reference dot on the rear. Blacked out sights make a lot more sense to me for competition shooters who spend most of time in the outdoors with lots of natural light but I shoot 99% of time at an indoor range. I like fiber optics too but I can't use them. anyway... that's all just what works for me but wanted to explain where and how I use these to give people a better idea how they might be able to use them in their own situation.

install was a bit more difficult than I had hoped and more difficult than some of the other sights i have installed on several of my other pistols but still manageable. this and the rear focus rings not being white like I expected are the only reason for knocking off one star.

I will be buying at least 2 more sets of these for my full sized .40 and 9mm M&P's and possibly for some glocks or springfields too
