New flair design with wider base provides better grip to remove magazine faster from mag pouch and insure positive seating without slipping. Designed for Wilson Legendary 47D magazines to be used with or without magwell. DP 1911 Basepads are designed with maximum length for positive seating in competition or tactical environments. The unique wedge shape fits IPDA and USPSA boxes (you should always check your pistol in the appropriate box as guns vary dimensionally). There are deep finger grooves on the sides to assist in rapid mag removal if needed. We offer basepads for most popular 1911 magazines and all are CNC machined from aircraft aluminum to Dawson Precision tolerances for a perfect fit and lasting durability. With the 1911 single stack making a strong comeback it made sense for Dave Dawson to make a basepad that increased the consistency of a fast, smooth, positive seating reload that accommodates not only the bigger, deeper magwells on the market, like the DP 1911 Ice Magwell, but all other types such as the Smith and Alexander Magwell.
DP Standard basepads are extended length factory replacements while DP No Gap basepads are designed for the DP 1911 Ice Magwell with No Gap Insert only.
Either way you go it improves positive mag seating.
These pads give enough extra length to seat a magazine with any magwell I use, but I use them on my duty magazines because they give enough extra weight to the magazine to make sure it falls free during a reload. On a concrete range I use different magazines with large plastic pads, so I don't mar the beautiful finish on these pads, but when my life is on the line I use nothing but Wilson 47D magazines with Dawson base pads.
Awesome product . Couldn't ask for anything better. . Installed on my Willson combat 47fx legendary mags . Fits perfect with the ice magwell that comes on my Sig. 1911 Max in .40 . I would highly recommend .
