I had a guide rod that needed a paper clip or small Allen key to take out. I have since install this rod and is makes break down much easier.
Works great and saves my fingers. Lol
I have an STI Edge which came with a “tool” to attach to the guide rod during the take down process. The Dawson tool-less makes the take down process about 10 times easier and quicker! More than worth the money!
This product makes striping and cleaning so much easier.
I have a three slide/barrel STI double stack set and this guide rod saves a ton of time and fingers at the range.

I shoot an STI Steelmaster open pistol and had problems with my gun feeding, I thought because it was New it just needed a little more break in time. I tried all types of ammo and only found two brands that would work 50% of the time. I shoot minor and the only 9mm that it would cycle was the Federal Syntech. I talked to a few pros and to one of Dawson Precision’s employees and this is where it led me. The “Recoil Master” is a joke if anyone says it’s better it’s because they haven’t tried this. I put the new toolless guiderod in with an 8lb wolf spring and shot about 600rds without an failures , I would get at least one jam in 50rds with the old setup.
Makes disassembly much more enjoyable and quicker. seems to be well made.
