I have two XDm pistols I wanted to upgrade the sights on. For my compact EDC I went with Trijicon HDs and for my full size 4.5 I got these.
I will be making a video to review and compare the two, but I can already attest to the outstanding quality of Dawson's sights. The lamps are Trijicon's tritium and the steel is machined perfectly. Both the front and the rear sights required fitting, which the Trij HD's did not. So a little more work putting these in.
I like the white outline front dot and the metal surrounds on the rears. It is as close as you can get to the three-dot stock sight picture, while still drawing increased attention to the front sight.
Naturally, I went with the Charger set over the Novak style (which is stock). I don't know why anyone would go with Novaks on a fighting pistol. Novaks look cool perhaps, but in a high stress scenario I want every possible advantage if I should have to run the slide with one hand. Of note is the very nice serrated front surface of the rear site, which is not picture on the Dawson website for some reason. Hire a photographer, Dave.
My only unfulfilled preferences with these sights are as follows:
The front charging surface of the rear sight could have been taller, like on the Trijicon HD's.
The front sight has a unique "under-shelf" which sits above the dovetail on the slide. It serves no purpose that I can see, and I'm just not used to seeing a sight post cut that way. It does not detract from function whatsoever. I just think it's weird.
And finally, the dovetails are not as wide as the etching on the Springfield slide. Springfield made it easy to position new sights in the center of their slides by cutting lines in the dovetail grooves. The dovetails in these sights (especially the front) are not nearly as wide as the Springfield locating lines, so getting them perfectly centered requires a bit more measuring and finesse.
I did choose to install with a sight pusher tool, after seeing the small damage to the blueing left by the supplied punches. I was able to clean up easily with a Presto pen.
Overall, these sights are superb. I tested POA/POI with a LaserLyte training cartridge and a 2.5" target at 21 yards. Absolute perfection, as expected. Thank you.

  2. The Absolute Best Sights.

My XDm did not come from the factory with night sights, I bought some other brand sights. My gun shot really high at 25 yards and nothing I could do to correct it. I made numerous calls to the other manufacture Etc.

I gave up and ordered this set from Dawson knowing they guarantee it will zero or they will send you another sight. I installed the Dawson set at the range, went out and was hitting the X at 25 yards and had a very nice tight group. I am so pleased I can keep my gun, that was next move if the sights didn't work.

Save yourself the time and money, buy this set and you will shoot great and know they will be on target when you need them to be.
