Description

  • USPSA Legal, NOT LEGAL FOR ISPC
  • Extends Magazine for Improved Seating
  • Grooved Sides to Aid in Magazine Removal
  • CNC Machined from Aircraft Aluminum
  • Use With or Without Standard 1911 Magwells

DP 1911 Basepads are designed with maximum length for positive seating in competition or tactical environments. The unique wedge shape fits IPDA and USPSA  boxes (you should always check your pistol in the appropriate box as guns vary dimensionally). There are deep finger grooves on the sides to assist in rapid mag removal if needed. We offer basepads for most popular 1911 magazines and all are CNC machined from aircraft aluminum to Dawson Precision tolerances for a perfect fit and lasting durability. With the 1911 single stack making a strong comeback it made sense for Dave Dawson to make a basepad that increased the consistency of a fast, smooth, positive seating reload that accommodates not only the bigger, deeper magwells on the market, like the DP 1911 Ice Magwell, but all other types such as the Smith and Alexander Magwell.

DP Standard basepads are extended length factory replacements while DP No Gap basepads are designed for the DP 1911 Ice Magwell with No Gap Insert only.

Either way you go it improves positive mag seating.

I shoot a 1911 in .40. I have Tripp research magazines and their standard base pads, I recently switched to the Dawson magwell and the old basepads functioned fine, but after trying these, I replaced all my old basepads with the Dawson's. They fit even better than the standard ones that came with the magazines, and most importantly they provide a taller heel which helps ensure positive seating of the magazine. Thanks for a making a great, low cost product!

Tripp mags are great…but they do tend to dislocate their OEM basepads when dropped on a hard surface. The Dawson basepads solve that problem as well as add a bit of welcome weight. Easy to seat and just the right amount of bulk for good purchase when removing the mag. They also look great!

Have Dawson basepads on all of my single stack mags (Wilson, Chip McCormick, Tripp). They add a little weight to aid in dropping mags fast and they are extended just to help seat the mag and still fit the box. Couple these with the Dawson basepad grip tape and you will see the advantage. Highly recommend.
