New flair design with wider base provides better grip to remove magazine faster from mag pouch and insure positive seating without slipping. Designed for Wilson ETM 9mm or 45 ACP magazines to be used with or without Magwell. DP 1911 Basepads are designed with maximum length for positive seating in competition or tactical environments. The unique wedge shape fits IPDA and USPSA boxes (you should always check your pistol in the appropriate box as guns vary dimensionally). The wide base also assist in rapid mag removal if needed. We offer basepads for most popular 1911 magazines and all are CNC machined from aircraft aluminum to Dawson Precision tolerances for a perfect fit and lasting durability. With the 1911 single stack making a strong comeback it made sense for Dave Dawson to make a basepad that increased the consistency of a fast, smooth, positive seating reload that accommodates not only the bigger, deeper magwells on the market, like the DP 1911 Ice Magwell, but all other types such as the Smith and Alexander Magwell.
DP Standard basepads are extended length factory replacements while DP No Gap basepads are designed for the DP 1911 Ice Magwell with No Gap Insert only.
Either way you go it improves positive mag seating.

The Dawson Basepads work great. The right fit and easy to use make reloads fast and easy. Along with the Ice Magwell a combination hard to beat. I can't imagine using anything else. 5 stars hands down.
The basepad finish is nice. I would of rated it 5 but I had to modify for it to fit the 8rd ETM magazines with the steel flush base. I think the 9rd you would not have to modify. I purchased the no gap for the 8 round and sanded the notch flat with the top of the basepad and then had to file the sides to fit inside the grip notch.
Exactly what I ordered. Installed in 30 seconds. Fits the mag well perfectly.
I added the ICE magwell, and the stock Wilson mag pads were just a little too short to reliably seat the magazines. The extra length was enough to fix this issue.
Standard ETM basepads sit flush with my SVI 1911 Competition magwell. Dawson's extended fit basepads give me the extension I was looking for while still making weight. Also, fits the USPSA box with a 5.4" gun! I highly recommend this product.
Had issue with my Wilson Combat ETM 10 round 9mm mags over inserting and jamming my pistols. This base pad solved the issue.
I had a tall adjustable sight that kept my gun from fitting the box with these base pads. They seat very well and leave a grip to pull the mag out easily if you need to. They extend enough to allow positive seating with the Dawson IPSC mag well. I like them well enough that I ordered new sights to fit the box.
This base pad is super lightweight and is easy to install. I use the Dawson Precision ICE magwell, and this base pad gives just the right amount of extension to make a good positive reload. I would highly recommend if you want a competition ready pistol!
