This subtle difference focuses the light in the sight making it not only brighter, but clearer. A fully cradled optic provides a longer optic lifespan.

I have these on all my 1911's, they work great and easy replacement of fiber. I bought these to replace the one I broke while abusing my weapon when it got tangled up in a barricade at a match. Great sites, recommend them, especially for us older folks that need a little help seeing the sites.
I ordered this sight to go along with the Bomar BMCS Adjustable Rear Sight. Only problem is I ordered the wrong one. Didn't realize that Brazos Custom slide has a different opening dimension. Call Customer Service, "Not a problem", they said, "We'll send you the right one". Easy Peasy!! Thank you guys!
The fiber optic is small enough for precision shots, yet is bright enough for quick target focused shots. As is always the case with DP, shipping is very fast.

I replaced a totally black front sight with a 180(h)x110(w) ramped fiber optic and it is now so much easier to pick up and align with the target. Only shot 60 rounds with it but that was more than enough to notice the improvement. My only, albeit minor, complaint is that I thought it would be a bit more ramped than it turned out to be.
Fit was easy, great quality. The sight tool is very good to have.
Great sights, as one would expect from Dawson. My only complaint is that there is no information on the size of the optic rod. The sights come with spares, and that is awesome, but had I known that the rod was smaller than the Dawson sights in my other STI, I would have asked more questions.

Dawson's sight calculator gave me the exact right height for my front sight. The front sight that came on my pistol was too low even with the adjustable rear sight screwed down all the way . Once I put the deviation, point of impact versus point of aim, in their calculator and ordered what they recommended the new sight was installed and now I am right on target. There was a slow process of gentle filing until the sight could be tapped into place. I look forward to the new ones which have a tritium vial as well as the fiber optic.
