This 1911 tool is worth every penny and completely eases the struggle of removing the extractor from the pistol. I agree with the fact that it should have a small hole for the firing pin so that you can use the tool to keep the extractor from rotating when putting everything back together (as mentioned in previous reviews).

The product worked great when I found a website that had a better photo than the one on the Dawson site, Your instructions were written by someone who knows how to use the product but cannot write good instructions, Write to assume the purchaser has no idea of how the extractor removal tool works.

Used this for the first time yesterday ... WOW does it make extractor removal easy. Well worth the price. So then I thought, will it help hold the extractor from rotating when installing the fire pin retaining plate?! NO because if won't let you push the firing pin down all the way. Now if this had a hole so the firing pin could go into it, this would make this tool doubly good!!

Great tool that works and I will enjoy using. Extractor claw does seem to gouge the tool surface a bit as it's used. I will sand mine and use with lube. Would probably stand up a little better with a harder surface or finish.
