Mag well

Overall a good product and installed easily.. I purchased this to make my 1911 faster for IDPA. The Mec-gar mags are very hard to seat with this mag well. Perhaps a mag with less material on its baseplate would work better? For now you’ll just have to really slam the mag in to get it to seat. I did trim some of the plastic insert to open it up a bit.

Great for USPSA - SS

This mag well works great on my 45 with the CMC 8 round mags.
I also plan to use it with the CMC 10 round mags. I will have to do some cutting / sanding on the tall CMC base pads as they hit the insert and will not seat. Definitely helped my SS gun ... I did buy the base pads that were a bit thicker and filed them just a tad so the
gun will fit in the USPSA "box" ...

Got it for my Dan Wesson PM7. It did not need any fitting, and the installation was smooth and easy.
Basepads for Chip McCormick Power Mags also worked well, although basepads for Wilson Combat needed some fitting.
This is a must have for any action pistol competition, including USPSA.
Highly recommended!

Installed on Colt Gold Cup

I bought the Ice Magwell for my Gold Cup. The flat mainspring housing needed fitting as the rails were a little too thick. 15 minutes with a Pillar File solved this. This magwell really helps seating my 8 round CMC mags. It's a good thing I have the thick base pads as the magwell is HUGE--:) Works great in dry fire practice. Looking forward to the next match!

This product is outstanding, I purchased it for my Colt Gold Cup 1911 iti was a perfect fit to the frame with no adjustments required. Only took a couple of minutes to install and safety check the action and weapons girp safety. Dawson Persision hit a home run with this after market part and had it delivered in two days. I would highly recommend this Magwell !

We installed it at the range (helps to have two sets of hands if you don't have a vice). Started using it right away and started shaving 1-2 seconds off of each mag change. Awesome and just as advertised!

Ordered two ice magwells one for my soon to have double stack comp gun and got this for limited-10 division and I cannot say enough of how smooth it is, easy installation and inserts only being $20 you can’t go wrong, turns your fast smooth reloads into VERY fast and smooth reloads 5 stars!

Looked all over for a main spring housing and Mag well flare to upgrade my Sig 1911 RTSS. there is no better match for price, fit and finish on the market. After seeing that a manufacturer like Sig Sauer trusts Dawson it was a no brainer. My 1911 is brand new again. The arched main spring housing/magwell gives it a look and feel of the top of the line competition pieces without the upfront investment. Awesome!
