I installed the ICE Magwell (No-gap) in about 5 minutes on my 1911 Springfield Armory Range Officer .45 . I also purchased the Dawson base pads for my Chip McCormick magazines. The combination is awesome. The inserts protect the actual magwell as well as the lips of the magazine when you are slamming them in. I went from getting frustrated when flubbing a reload prior to this installation to not having flubbed reloads at all. Very happy with my purchase. I would recommend cleaning the threads on the screw that holds the magwell onto the mainspring housing and putting a small amount of blue Loctite on them when you are assembling.

This magwell is a significant improvement over traditional/"tactical" magwells. The opening is HUGE. A word of caution, this is a deep magwell and you will need to use extended base pads. I have mags from several companies. When fully seated, every one of them sat recessed within the magwell.

Product was easy to install if you're familiar with taking off your slide and mainspring housing and have the tools to do it. Fits the Kimber Custom II perfectly with no modifications. Has a little trouble with the Wilson Combat 10 round mag, but Chip McCormick 10 round works with no issues as with 7 or 8 round mags. If you have the Kimber 22LR conversion kit your 22LR mags will not fit (I'm going to have to try to modify mine- they're full plastic, so shouldn't be too difficult). This wasn't unexpected since the Nighthawk Custom fluted magwell I had before didn't like them, either.
Anyway, if you're familiar with extended disassembly, I think this took me less than 7 minutes to do. Large, fluted magazine well so you can reload mags with a blindfold on. Works as expected. Another quality Dawson Precision product.

I have both the "no gap" on one SS and the "gap" on another gun, they are functionally the same. I will buy "no gap" in the future allowing me to run any base pad.
The mag well is fantastic, easily fit, works properly and it's HUGE. If you miss a reload it won't be because of the mag well!
