The new sight fit well after careful filing. The original Shield sight took some work to remove. Putting the slide in the freezer overnight did the trick. The new sight is very clear and easy to see against the IDPA target. Very pleased with the upgrade.
Very good quality sight
I like this product and have installed it on several of my pistols. The largest problem was removing the factory sight. After it was removed a few file stokes on the Dawson and it installed easily using the aluminum punch that was included
In over 40 years as a gunsmith I have fit a lot of front sights in my lifetime this was one of the closest fits that I have come across yet, very high quality and fit.
Was looking for a replacement front sight for my M&P Shield. ... and found the best product! Seemed small when it was mounted, but truthfully it is perfect. The red fiber optic that I opted for helps greatly with target acquisition.
I prefer my POI right to be right at the top of the front sight post as to not hide any of what I'm aiming at. With the Shield's .160 front sight being too tall for my preference, I went with Dawson's shorter .140 fiber optic front sight. I also got the narrower .100 wide blade as opposed to the OEM .125 M&P. That combined with the green fiber optic allows me more precise shots a lot faster and more accurate. The sight does come over sized and has to be fitted to the slide's dovetail. After watching the installation video and taking my time the installation went uneventful without any screw ups. It fits great and the green FO is really quick to pick up.
