This is my 6th set of these sights for my XDMs (yes I own six XDMs). They provide much better accuracy than the stock sights (I went with the narrower 0.100 width). I just wish the factory sights were easier to remove, but that is not a Dawson problem.
This is the best front sight that I've purchased. Bought two others before this one and yours is definitely the best quality. Wish I had discovered your web site first so I would have your rear sight to match rather than another brand.
Fit and finish is excellent. Provided the necessary tool to install the new sight. Online instruction is very helpful. I have purchased several sights from dawson. All work well. Removal of the factory xdm sight can be a challenge as others described.
These are good sights but the angle is lower then I thought so you need to aim a bit higher; otherwise, you will shoot lower then you see through your sights. The red is default installed but came with green also. I've tried both on this sight and the red show up better over the green. Off the sight, the green seems pretty bright but once you install them it is much darker.
I think Dawson makes the best Fiber Optic Sights, period. I have installed them on many side arms.
Very happy with the sight. removal of stock sight is tough. the aluminum tool sent with the sight will be destroyed if you try to remove the stock sight with it. Overall i'm very pleased with this purchase.
I think I am going to like my Dawson front site I installed on my 3.8 XDM. Installation is tough. Don't use the tool included with purchased sight for removal. You will ruin it. Keep it for installation. For mine, a steel punch would not even move the original front sight. Watched a YouTube video of a guy removing his XD front sight with a dremel tool. It works just, be careful not to scratch the gun. A steady hand is needed. Installation of new sight required some filing of the dovetails on sight and light sanding on the bottom. It's doable, but just be ready for the challenge. Mine is on without messing anything up, and the red fiber optic is bright. Just what my 50 year old eyes needed for getting on target faster.
sight was easy to install. directions were clear. shot it in a match last week. easy to see . quick to pick up on target. great product
Remove the old sight with a steel punch. tapping the dovetail. Not the sight blade ! A 60 degree sight file is used to taper the dove tail to get it started. It fit well and is square to the dovetail, Another great product,,
