These are probably the 9th and 10th set of Dawson sights I’ve bought, best sights on the market far as I’m concerned, I have them on Glocks and 1911’s. Great sight picture for competition or anything far as that goes, I highly recommend!
The sights are exactly as pictured and appear to be very high quality. The rear sight installed quite easy with the aid of a sight Pusher. The front sight need some fitting and installed quite tight. This is not a project for the faint of heart. We pretty much destroyed the supplied install tool installing the front sight. It's in place and looks great and not likely to ever move. Still need to check the zero. Great product.
At 60, my eyesight isn't crisp and clear at all distances like the eyes of younger men. Not long ago in a tactical training class, one of the instructors suggested trying all black rear sights. I had already been using fiber optic sights, so I needed only to replace the rear sight on some pistols with Dawson's. The ability to focus on the front sight was amazing. On the pistols I compete with and on my carry guns, I have Dawson black rear sights and fiber optic front sights. I may just get another ten years or so out my old eyes with Dawson's black rear and fiber optic front sets.

I never installed sights on a 1911 before, but decided to give it a try with the help of Dave's videos. I'd like to say it was easy, but it wasn't. Took MUCH longer than I anticipated, but I was taking my time to make sure I didn't mess my pistol up. It was well worth it! Not only are the sights a big improvement over the original, tired out night sights, but just came back from the range. I'm happy to say they are DEAD ON! I'm a very satisfied customer!
As with all sights I have bought from Dawson these sights work well. Installed them on a Kimber Pro Carry II to replace poor night sights. The stock night sights were so bright in the back I could never see the front sight. Even in daylight the front sight was not clear because of the sights construction. Installation took around an Hour as some minor fitting is required. Tested the sights the next day and at first I fell they shot a little low but quickly realized it was me not the sights. tested at close range 5 yards than at 10 yards and finally at 30 yards. 30 yards IDPA target off hand standing below 40 degrees outside head shots all in the head and centered too. Will buy another set for my Kimber compact 4" officers frame gun over the winter.
I'm very happy with my sights and got some great advice when I called. I was unsure if these would fit my Kimber PRO CDP II. The slide is stamped Custom Shop and the literature says this is a custom shop pistol. Michael explained that most with these markings have standard Kimber dovetails. Today I finished installation. They required more fitting than I expected but now fit very snugly. Range testing will have to wait until the weekend. Thanks Dawson Precision!
