Is there really a difference with Dawson Precision sights? You bet there is! While other sights give off a hazy glow making it difficult to focus, DP sights offer you the sharpest picture. We counterbore the blade so the optic is recessed. This subtle difference focuses the light in the sight making it not only brighter, but clearer. A fully cradled optic provides a longer optic lifespan.

  1. Desert Eagle

Used the sight calculator and ordered the suggested height. Worked perfectly.

  2. DE front sight

Solid quality sight, good installation tool and instructions. I did have to do some filing on the sight base to make it fit my new 50 AE, so I lost the black finish there. Need to offer matching rear sights now!

  3. Fiber front sight

Huge improvement over the OEM front sight. Fit and finish is great. Minimal hand fitting for a nice tight fit.
Dawson products have never disappointed- top quality stuff.
Now, if we can get Dave to offer an upgrade for the trigger...................

  4. Rock Solid All Steel Quality!

I wasn't happy that my Desert Eagle .44 shot 6 to 8 inches high with the stock sights. Great for 100 yard silhouettes but not so great if you want to do precision shooting at 25 yards. The stock sights are very well made but not adjustable. What to do?!

I began searching for custom height sights and stumbled on Dawson's website. I was immediately impressed. They offered great front sights machined out of all steel with fiber optic inserts. On top of that they have a handy sight height calculator and good instructions included. I made the necessary measurements and found the sight height that would work and ordered the appropriate height.

The sight arrived in very short order with free shipping and a nicely made installation tool made out of aluminum bar stock and detailed instructions included. Fitting is required but that is merely a matter of using a decent file (purchased and reviewed at the same time) to shave just enough off the front part of the dovetail so the sight will insert about a third of the way into the slot on the barrel per instructions. I took the makers advice and cleaned up the sights and the dovetail on the barrel to remove any oil or grease, then applied a little loctite and tapped in the sight. It is easy to do for any DYI type and by using a vernier dial caliper to verify that the sight was centered it was done. So far after 200 rounds of .44 mag downrange it has not moved and it looks great. Groups are now very near zero at 25 yards!

I would like to re-state that the sight is about as well made as one can hope for-all steel with spare light guides-red and green in case you want to change color. Also a near foolproof installation tool is included.
