We counterbore the blade so the optic is recessed. This subtle difference focuses the light in the sight making it not only brighter, but clearer. A fully cradled optic provides a longer optic lifespan.

It's a sturdy product made of carbon steel, and the fiber optic sights were very bright. I had to file off 0.015" from the dovetail and substantially more material from the front to make it fit my subcompact Para Ordnance 1911 clone. I'm glad it came with an aluminum punch because it took me 4 attempts to finally install it.
